I’ve seen these “stow-n-go” puzzle roll-ups sell for as much as $60 dollars, but don’t feel bad if you purchased one of these seemingly fantastic ideas, because it is a great concept.
Upon opening my newly purchased puzzle roll, I quickly realized the contents of the box were nothing more than a cardboard tube (similar to a wrapping paper roll), a piece of felt, and some elastic bands with Velcro on the ends.
The concept was so simple; I thought I could have easily made this myself! So here are my step by step instructions on how to make your own puzzle roll!
What you’ll need:
- Piece of felt (36” x 30”)
- Cardboard Tube (30”)
- Elastic or Velcro Bands

However.... the diameter of the tube needs to be larger than any shipping or wrapping tube. Tried it and the pieces bent too much and broke apart. One maker's website (puzzle buddy) says that it needs to be at least 3-5/8" diameter, which is a full inch or more than anything I can find. Also, Velcro is too damn expensive!
Yep, that's why I prefer the Puzzle Buddy over other puzzle roll ups and puzzle boards. They've been around the longest and their "how to" video makes using it very easy :-)
